An old rickety front porch. That’s how this all got started. When we decided it was time to replace the front porch on a house we once owned, we salvaged some beautiful oak joists from a nearby barn that turned out to make wonderful fireplace mantels. And the rest, as they say, is history. With the help of some like-minded people and a passion to restore and re-purpose old lumber, we wanted to do our part to provide a new life to as much salvaged lumber as possible.
With so many barns and old wooden structures once decorating the countryside across this great nation, the original needs of those buildings has diminished considerably, while the demand for new construction continues to goes up. So unfortunately, many old barns are left to rot away. Luckily, the beauty, character, and longevity can continue to be shared through awesome barn wood products.
Our family founded our sister company, Modern Timber Craft, to offer hand-crafted floating shelves, fireplace mantels, and other items from salvaged barn wood. We also enjoy sharing products made by others that are similar in origin, aesthetics, or design. That’s why we started I Love Barnwood!
